Memorial Brick Project at Camp Nett

At the 2011 NGACT Annual Awards Luncheon and Conference, the NGACT General Assembly voted for NGACT to become the sponsor of a new Connecticut National Guard Memorial at Camp Niantic.  As the sponsor of this memorial, NGACT has worked closely with the Connecticut National Guard Heritage Committee over last year  to purchase a Soldier’s Cross and pedestal to unveil 18 AUG 2011 for our annual NGACT Retiree Picnic and for Family Day 10 SEP 2011. The statue and pedestal were welcomed with great pride, but this is only the first step in building a monument that will truly represent our legacy as Connecticut National Guard Members. We are thankful to Getty Granite, of Salem, who generously donated the granite pedestal, Kid Rock who donated $5000,  Richard Rist, the artist of our prized statue, graciously reduced the price of the statue in honor of our Connecticut fallen warriors, and the CT NCO Corps that also donated $2400.

The Members and Board of NGACT are very proud to contribute to the heritage of the Connecticut National Guard through this project. The second phase to establish a brick paver courtyard around the central statue is now in process. If you would like to learn more about how to donate a brick to the Connecticut National Guard Memorial, please email us at executivedirector@ngact.org
