Military Travel to Hawaii

Hawaii is a top destination for military travelers, and for good reason. With the many military bases and recreation facilities located there, we have plenty of great options for lodging that aren’t available to civilians.

Check out our Guide to Hawaii Military Resorts and Recreational Lodging for a comprehensive list of the incredible military facilities you can use!

Another reason that Hawaii is popular with military travelers is that we can fly there Space-A. If you travel during Air Mobility Command’s operational “low season,” it’s fairly easy to hop there and back.

Here are 10 things you should know about flying Space-A to Hawaii (including the times of year to avoid)! JB Pearl Harbor-Hickam’s web page is linked from that article, and they are updating their flight schedules regularly.

So, should you fly Space-A to Hawaii and stay in one of the military resorts? Maybe.

Hawaii military resorts are extremely popular, so in most cases, the only way to get a reservation is to book months in advance. You can also try your luck at the last minute, which is what I recommend if you plan to fly Space-A.

Due to their popularity, some of these facilities require up to 30 days notice to cancel without penalty. You should never make non-refundable reservations based on your expected arrival on a Space-A flight, but if you want to take your chances by reserving one of these military resorts, make sure you budget for last-minute commercial tickets in case you can’t get to Hawaii in time!
